I was rambling on Facebook earlier and created the perfect theme song for my holiday season “Tis the Season…I Need More Coffee, Fa lalalala la la la la” hahaha, yikes!
It is a busy month. No denying that. There are Christmas and other holiday parties, concerts at school if you have musical kids, and other assorted events. We try to throw some fun in – such as visiting the local zoo to see the light displays (The Columbus Zoo Wildlights is A-MAZING!) and we also have birthday parties because when we planned our girls, apparently we weren’t thinking clearly 😉
It is all too easy to get stressed out, eat too much crap, and not get enough sleep. Is it any wonder our bodies get thrown off balance this time of year, and our immune systems pay the price? What I actually NEED is NOT more coffee. But I will indulge in a cup or 2 a day because it is my routine.
I’m not here to lecture you. (I am preaching to myself though) I just want to bless you and remind you to try to be kind to yourself, to take a few minutes each day to do whatever it is that you normally do to keep yourself in tip-top shape.
Some basic common sense things that I do, and try to be extra vigilant about during December:
Essential Oils – I will do more than usual to provide extra TLC to my immune system and emotions. We will use alot of Thieves especially.
Sleep! – I take naps if I need to. I do not stay up late unless there is no other choice. I use my oils at bedtime to help support healthy deep sleep. Lavender, Tranquil, Cedarwood, and Peace And Calming are the ones I use in a rotation as I feel I need them. I also take my Thyromin at night. I sleep better, and it feeds the endocrine system during the night when it needs it.
Drink More Water – any way I can get it. If I get bored, I add some citrus oils to the glass.
Eat More Veggies – I decided this year that I can indulge at my parties, but to make up for it I am eating mostly salads and protein during the week, with healthy high fiber carbs too. I need some carbs in my diet or I get brain fuzz and adrenal fatigue.
Exercise – I am really trying to do better and do a little something each day. It keeps me from getting stiff joints and also aids in better sleep. I’m not perfect, especially if we have to travel.
Be Present – Enjoy what is is going on around you. Put the phone down. Turn the computer off. Play a game with your kids. (did you know I am excellent at all Zelda games? it’s our family playtime favorite)
This is probably nothing new to you. (well, maybe the addition of essential oils are new to some – you should try them because they really do help!) We know this stuff, right? But for me at least, it helps to see it written down. It keeps me accountable and maybe inspires you too 🙂
With some attention to detail, we can get through this month and not have to go on a New Year’s diet, right? I believe so!
I hope you have a wonderful rest of the year filled with health and many blessings!
p.s. I am working on a Farm Friday post for this week. Stay tuned!
