Every morning when I get up and head into the kitchen for my coffee, this is what I see from the window. (sorry it’s blurry, I was trying to be sneaky with my cell phone camera)
That’s Perdy, waiting for her breakfast. She figured out her first day here that if she stood on the tree stump, she could see into the window, or the french doors. So when it is mealtime she stands there and waits. As soon as she sees me – but not before – she starts hollering. Which then signals the other goats to start staring and hollering. They know that hollering isn’t tolerated here because of the close proximity of neighbors and me wanting to be respectful of their sleeping habits.
So every morning I sneak past the window to get to the refrigerator, hoping she didn’t see any movement. Goats have really good eyesight, so if she senses any movement at all in the kitchen she goes on high alert. I need my coffee and a few minutes to wake up or I’m stumbling around in a fog and usually end up bumping my head on something.
Funny thing is – they only holler for me. Any other person could walk past the window and they won’t make a sound. (I’m not complaining though, I think it’s pretty fun and I just pretend that they miss me)
