I am sitting here watching my very pregnant goat as she is starting labor. (will update with photos as soon as I can) It’s been a drawn out process this time around. Or maybe it just seems that way because I have had to watch her so close due to the crazy weather. I do not want the goat kids to freeze before she can get them clean and dry. I was up every 2 hours checking her last night because it seemed like she was ready so I did not get much sleep.
Sleep deprivation is a huge stressor on my body. Add that to a little bit of physical and mental stress today and that’s a perfect recipe for a flare, which shows up for me as extreme exhaustion and aches and pains for a few days. Even though I’m excited and not really worried or stressed out, my body seems to confuse the signals and goes into protective mode anyway. I’m special that way 😉
I don’t want to deal with that so I use certain supplements and essential oils to help with the stress on my body.
First – fuel up with enough calories and good nutrients to support my activity. This is THE most important thing for me. I know that I run best on nearly equal amounts of fat, protein, and carbs and at least 2000 calories a day. Every body is different though so go with what works for you.
Second – I pile on extra nutrients with supplement. It took alot of trial and error to find what works for me, but I know I need magnesium, b vitamins, and the high antioxidants found in NingXia Red – 2 ounces, 2x a day when stressed. I also take a few extra Sulfurzyme capsules – it’s an oil-infused MSM supplement that seems to work really well for my aches.
Third – I oil up. Did you know Nutmeg is a super great food for adrenal system support? Nutmeg oil has been a lifesaver for me. I use a couple drops, rubbed over the adrenal area on the back, but it is also an oil that can be ingested as long as it is Young Living brand. (they sit right on top of the kidneys)
The other oils I use are my daily Valor, Frankincense, and Peppermint – applied topically throughout the day. Lemon oil in my water -just a drop or two will do.
If I feel the stress coming on I will diffuse some Peace and Calming or Stress Away.
These are my simple steps to dealing with stress and preventing my body from getting run down – what do you do?
